Welcome to Hope in Ruins.
Hope in Ruins is a science fiction story about a family finding each other in a possession-powered surveillance state. This story started out as a novel, then became something more when I decided to rework it as a serial. But more than the setting, style, and medium, this story is a story about hope.
2020 has been a difficult year, politically, socially, and personally. But despite all the banner struggles of this year, life is just plain hard without all these new and novel problems. Relationships, health, financial hardships, and mental health struggles are all a part of everyday life. That is why hope is so important.
I didn’t intend to begin posting Hope in Ruins during such a traumatic year, but I’m thankful this is the year, of all the years, I was able to share this story with you. Hope is something I don’t see enough of in popular media, and is part of the reason I wrote this story. No matter how dark things are, there is always a glimmer of hope, and this has indeed been a dark year.
So whatever you’re going through: there is hope. Don’t give up. I wrote this story for you. I wrote this story to remind you that even though just getting out of bed today was the hardest thing you’ve ever done, there is hope. There is always hope. I might not know you, but I know that you are valued, loved, and created in the image of God, therefore you are of great value.
Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoy this story and don’t forget that there is hope no matter how dark it feels: there is always hope.
